SHULDINER HEADS TO LOUISIANA TO SPEAK
WITH HEMOPHILIA COMMUNITY

MOHEGAN LAKE, NY – New York Congressional candidate Ben Shuldiner will travel to West Baton Rouge Friday to address the annual meeting of the Louisiana Hemophilia Foundation.

Shuldiner, who was born with severe factor IX hemophilia, will visit area hospitals and Katrina-ravaged regions after speaking on Saturday to the foundation, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

"Hemophilia has not stopped me from living my life," Shuldiner said. "I look forward to sharing my experience with an area of the country that has proven so resilient in recent months."

The Louisiana Hemophilia Foundation provides support to people with blood disorders, including information about disorders and financial assistance to patients needing medical equipment. Shuldiner has worked closely with the National Hemophilia Foundation for several years, and delivered the keynote address at their annual convention in 2003.

"Ben’s life story is so inspiring," said Tres Major, President of the Louisiana foundation. "He has dreams and he makes them a reality. I have two kids with hemophilia, and Ben's the type of person I'd like them to look up to."

Noting the importance that health insurance has played in helping him lead a healthy life, Shuldiner pledged to make health care a top priority in his campaign.

"It is unacceptable that so many Americans still don't have health insurance," Shuldiner said. "I will fight so that every person in this country will have the access and opportunities that I have had."

Ben Shuldiner is the founder and principal of Brooklyn's High School for Public Service and the winner of the prestigious Jefferson Award for Public Service. Shuldiner is running for Congress in the 19th Congressional District of New York, which includes portions of Dutchess, Orange, Rockland and Westchester counties and all of Putnam County.
