Press RoomMay 1, 2006 Campaign Finances Make Shuldiner a Top Contender CROMPOND, NY -- Ben Shuldiner, Democratic House candidate for the 19th Congressional District of New York, has solidified his impressive 1st-quarter 2006 campaign finance reports. The 29-year-old high school principal from Crompond, NY, has posted numbers that confirm his 2nd-place financial status in a six-way Democratic primary, both in terms of total fundraising and cash on-hand. This award-winning public servant, who founded Brooklyn’s High School for Public Service, which been hailed as an educational success among an area in great duress, has managed to raise nearly $160,000 despite his full-time position as a principal. "Balancing my job as a principal during business hours and my job as a House candidate during evenings and weekends is certainly a challenge,” said Shuldiner, “but it’s a challenge I feel is well worth the effort. I’d hate to abandon my students and teachers in the middle of the school year, so I’m burning the midnight oil to make both endeavors successes." With over $127,000 cash on-hand, Shuldiner has proven to the once-skeptical that his campaign is indeed the real deal. And with his growing campaign operation, visibility across the district will dramatically increase in the coming weeks and months. “Money is important, that’s true -- and I'm incredibly proud of our success -- but anyone who’s met me knows my focus is on meeting and hearing from the people of this district and building a Democratic stronghold from the ground up. This is a true grassroots campaign, from beginning to end." # # # |
